Moss Mine

Another birdhouse repeater in a tree!

Located on the western edge of Gatineau Park, very close to the settlement of Moss Mine, QC. It is at the top of a rocky escarpment in a little pine tree. Estimated elevation is 210m.

This is a similar design to the repeater Constance Bay NW, except the main body is made of a wooden box instead of shingles. The roof is made up of two 5 watt solar panels. Inside, the RAK 4631 radio and battery all fit neatly inside a pill bottle. The battery pack is made from two recycled heated sock battery cells (13 watt hours combined). The RAK WisBlock baseboard handles solar charging and battery management. Coming out of the bottom is a DIYMall 19.5cm 5dBi omni-directional antenna.
